Physical education in modern university: Socio-educational aspects
The article examines physical education as an important component in implementing social and educational function of the modern university. It is noted that physical culture within the educational environment performs not only a health-improving but also a significant social and educational role, contributing to the development of students’ health culture, self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and readiness for civic engagement. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, regulatory documents, and statistical data from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia, it has been revealed that the traditional model of teaching physical education does not ensure a stable interest of students in regular physical activity. Special attention is paid to the development of innovative forms of physical education, including phygital sports and digital technologies, which increase student engagement and foster the formation of modern professional and personal skills. It is concluded that integration of physical culture into the university’s educational strategy is a key condition for shaping a socially active, responsible, and healthy generation of future professionals.
