Historical aspect of preparing the youth for taking the tests of the All-Russian physical education and sports standard “Ready for Labor and Defense”
Physical culture is a purposeful systematic activity aimed at improving health and developing physical qualities of people. Physical training allows everyone to be ready for high-performance work and protection of their Homeland. The introduction of the All-Russian physical education and sports standard “Ready for Labor and Defense” (further the RLD) into the system of labor, military and patriotic activities has led to the increase in the number of people who are constantly engaged in sports and activities. This paper is devoted to the historical study of the young people’s preparation for the norms and requirements of the RLD standard in different periods. The low level of physical fitness of the population allows us to conclude that there is a necessity of purposeful training of people, starting from the youth.
