Abstract:

The article examines the current state and prospects of computer sports development in Russia. Relevance of the topic is shown in the context of growing influence of computer sports on youth culture and public life. The purpose of the study is to assess the current state and prospects for the development of computer sports in Russia based on the analysis of the regulatory framework and statistical data (forms 1-FC, 5-FC) for 2021–2024 and to identify key problems hindering its further development. The research hypothesis suggests that government support in the form of institutionalization, development programs, and regulatory and legal regulation contributes to the growing popularity and professionalization of computer sports. An active growth of discipline, confirmed by the increase in the number of students, coaches, referees and sports reserve training departments has been established. An increase in the number of athletes with sports titles has been revealed, which testifies to the development of the sports training system. It is shown that despite positive dynamics, there is still a gender imbalance, requiring the development of special programs to attract women to esports. The necessity to improve the system of awarding sports categories and titles to stimulate the growth of highly qualified athletes has been established. The need for qualified refereeing and coaching staff, as well as the development of reserve training programs, taking into account the age characteristics of athletes, has been identified. The conclusion sets out recommendations for further development of computer sports in Russia, including measures to eliminate gender imbalance, develop the ranking system, improve the skills of coaching and refereeing staff, as well as the elaboration of training programs for the sports reserve.
