Potential of physical education as a tool for the formation of meta-subject competencies and holistic personality development

Physical education and the corresponding subject in educational programs are traditionally considered as the tools for mastering skills directly related to sport and its certain disciplines. Meanwhile, within the competency-based education approach, physical education can be understood in a much wider context, as a source of development of soft skills and even cognitive abilities. This article considers the preconditions and several country cases of integration of the competency-based approach into the physical education curricula.

The effectiveness of digital education: From goals to results

The article talks about digitalization, to which all spheres of human activity, including education, are subordinated nowadays, therefore it is advisable to produce specialists with competencies corresponding to modern realities. In this regard, the possibilities of digitalization of physical education are considered on the example of the Higher School of Physical Culture and Sports of the I. Kant BFU.

The effects of “soft fitness” classes on the psychophysical state of the first-year students

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of “soft fitness” on the psychophysical state of the firstyear female students. It was assumed that the integrated use of the elements of yoga, Pilates, autogenic training in physical education classes at a university would help reduce the stress levels among the female students, increase emotional stability, develop the control skills in regulating their own psycho-emotional states and, as a result, improve mental and physical well-being.

Attitude to the problem of doping in the sports community

The relevance of the study is related to the problem of the use of doping to improve athletic performance in sports and the issues of combating doping in the focus of modern public attention. The aim of the work was to study the awareness of athletes and the staff working with them in matters of doping and doping violations, as well as to identify the shortcomings of anti-doping educational work among various categories and groups of the population.

Functional reserves of students related to a special medical group for health reasons

The relevance of this work is determined by the high prevalence of physical inactivity among students assigned to a special medical group for health reasons. The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of physical education in a special medical group on the functional reserves of students’ body. A group of 20 first-year students was observed. Girls were engaged in physical culture during one school year. The examination at the beginning and end of the observation period included anthropometry, physiometry and functional testing.

Special aspects of the beginning of competitive activity of adult amateur rhythmic gymnasts

The authors studied main peculiarities of rhythmic gymnastics for adult amateurs: the reasons of appearance, the age of athletes, types of organisations, offering rhythmic gymnastics classes for this population group, and peculiarities of competitions. Relevance of the research is explained by the following circumstances. Thanks to the development of amateur rhythmic gymnastics, indicators of the physical culture and sports development in the Russian Federation may improve.

Adaptation of students from African countries to training at the universities of Siberia by means of physical culture and sport

Foreign students are traditionally a part of the student body at major universities. Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics is one of the leading technical universities in Russia, where a significant number of students from foreign countries with climatic and geographical conditions that differ sharply from the Siberian region study. One of the priorities of the university when working with such students is to ensure not only social, but also their physical adaptation to training and living in Tomsk.
