New trends in the development of student sports at Agricultural Universities of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation
The purpose of the study is to identify the key trends in the development of student sports at Agricultural Universities of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Methods and organization of the study. The study was based on the analysis and review of documents from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Agroeducation Association, and documents and reports from the official websites of the Russian Student Sports Federation and the All-Russian Student Sports Federation for the years 2021–2025. The study also included the analysis of speeches by representatives of ministries and agencies and well-known athletes at various events. The announcements, news, and final publications on the Rosstudsport website and other social networks were analyzed. The opinions of well-known scholars who have been studying the problems of student sports for many years were also studied. The results of the research and conclusions were presented. The main trends in the development of student sports in agricultural universities will be as follows: the creation of student sports leagues for 2–3 sports, choosing from the most popular ones such as volleyball, basketball, football, athletics, powerlifting, and boxing; the creation of a unified mechanism for coordinating activities in the field of student sports; the creation of student sports clubs at each university as an independent structure; the development of a unified calendar for training and participation in competitions for 2026–2028; the promotion of the image of Agro-Leagues in the media space; and the search for sources of funding for Agro-Leagues. By 2025, the number of student sports clubs had reached 888 as independent structural units, including those in Russia’s agricultural universities. It is the student sports clubs, in close cooperation with the departments of physical education, that should play a key role in shaping a healthy, active, and socially responsible generation.
It is necessary to preserve the traditions of the Universiades of the universities of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture by forming the Agro-Universiade League within the framework of modern trends in the development of student sports.
